CaptureGem VR Recordings: Playback Setup (HereSphere baseline)

Table of Contents

CaptureGem can record VR and non‑VR streams and saves them as .mp4.

If your VR playback looks wrong (warped, wrong depth, uncomfortable FOV), start with a known-good baseline and adjust from there.

A solid starting point that CaptureGem itself recommends:

  • Viewer: HereSphere (Steam)
  • Projection: Fisheye
  • Stereo mode: SBS
  • FOV: 120

That’s not “the only correct” setup — it’s a good baseline that usually gets you 80% there.

Quick troubleshooting

  • Looks flat / no depth: stereo mode wrong (try SBS variants)
  • Too zoomed / too wide: adjust FOV
  • Warped edges: projection mismatch (fisheye vs other)

Make it repeatable

Once you find a good profile for your preferred VR source, save it as a preset in your player so every new recording opens correctly.
