CaptureGem Quick Start Guide: Your First Recording in 5 Minutes
Table of Contents
Welcome to the community! If you’ve just downloaded CaptureGem, you’re minutes away from your first high-quality recording. This guide skips the deep technical weeds and gets you live immediately.
Step 1: Install & Launch
Download the installer from the official site and run it. On first launch, CaptureGem will automatically detect your hardware and optimize its “Engine” for your GPU.
💡 Why it Matters: The Multi-Threaded Engine
Think of this like having multiple helpers working at once. One helper watches the stream, another saves the file, and another checks for errors. This keeps your computer running smoothly while recording.
Step 2: Choose Your Destination
Before you hit record, tell CaptureGem where to save your files.
- Open Settings.
- Go to Storage.
- Select an Archive Folder.
Tip: Use an SSD for the smoothest experience.
Step 3: Add Your First Model
CaptureGem is “Watchlist-driven.” You don’t just paste a link; you add the models you care about.
- Click the + Add Model button.
- Enter the model’s username (e.g., from Chaturbate or Stripchat).
- Toggle Auto-Record to ON.
Step 4: The First Recording
Once added, the model will appear in your Watchlist. If they are currently live, a green “LIVE” badge will appear, and CaptureGem will automatically begin the recording process.
💡 Why it Matters: .mp4 vs Others
CaptureGem saves everything in
.mp4format. This is the “Universal Language” of video. You can play these files on your phone, tablet, or TV without needing any special software.
Step 5: Review Your Work
When the stream ends, the file is finalized and moved to your Archive Folder. You can view the recording immediately by clicking the Folder Icon next to the model’s name in your history.
Next Steps
Now that you’ve got the basics down, you might want to dive deeper:
- High-Quality Audio Setup: Make sure your mic and system sounds are balanced.
- Auto-Mode Optimization: Scale your rig to record 10+ streams simultaneously.
- Cloud Archiving: Move your finished files to the cloud automatically.
